    • For the (111) surface of a fcc crystal, the H − K = 3N ± 1 rods are sensitive to the stacking (ABC or ACB) of the (111) planes, while the H − K = 3N rods are not. The reciprocal lattice of a crystal with the ACB stacking is the mirror image of the reciprocal lattice of a crystal with the ABC stacking. Here the mirror is the L = 0 plane (which is a (111) plane)
