    • In the n-i-p-i superlattice structures, the electrons and holes are separated along the growth direction driven by the built-in electric field. The enhanced diffusion coefficient and the negligible optical recombination (due to the electron-hole separation) are both critical to the giant carrier diffusion. In the QW structures, however, the electrons and holes are confined in the same QW and separated in plane. A fast optical recombination is crucial for the electron depletion, the large charge separation, and the emission ring formation.
