    • When CO is adsorbed at a potential close to the reversible hydrogen potential, a CO oxidation peak is observed at lower potentials in addition to the main CO oxidation peak. This peak is called a "pre-peak". In contrast, when CO is adsorbed onto a Pt electrode in acidic media at a potential within the "double layer region", a single CO oxidation peak is observed in the voltammogram.
