A randomised controlled trial of occupational therapy for people with early rheumatoid arthritis
-
Hammond A, Young A, Kidao R. A randomised controlled trial of occupational therapy for people with early rheumatoid arthritis. Ann Rheum Dis 2004; 63:23-30. This RCT compared comprehensive occupational therapy and the usual medical care in patients with early rheumatoid arthritis. A significantly higher proportion of the occupational therapy group practiced self-management methods at 6 months compared with the usual care group. However, no statistically significant difference was found in disease activity, physical, functional, and psychosocial measures.
