    • The essential nature of good corporate citizens is described by the Canadian Business for Social Responsibility - a membership group comprised of Canadian businesses that are committed to being good corporate citizens - as organizations operating in an "economically and environmentally sustainable manner, while acknowledging the interests of a variety of stakeholders" (http://www.cbsr.bc.ca). A United States counterpart, Business for Social Responsibility, suggests that a good corporate citizen "meets or exceeds the ethical, legal, commercial and public expectations that society has of business" (http://www.bsr.org).
