    • The Emrys Creator is a single-mode focused microwave reactor with temperature and pressure limits of 250 °C and 20 bar, respectively. The instrument constantly monitors the sample temperature during the reaction by IR spectroscopy and automatically regulates microwave power in order to maintain programmed temperature profiles, and thus ensures a high level of reaction reproducibility. Alternatively, microwave power can be regulated according to programmed pressure profiles (where sample pressure is constantly monitored by a piezoelectric sensor), or it can be fixed to give a constant power output. For the purpose of these experiments, microwave power was regulated according to programmed temperature profiles.
