The effects discussed in this paper also may be relevant to the interpretation of the ultraviolet spectrum of degenerate atomic hydrogen (see D.G. Fried et al, Phys. Rev. Lett. 81, 3811 (1998); 10.1103/PhysRevLett.81.3811

The interspecies scattering length (Formula presented) for the two spins is nearly exactly the geometric mean of the two intraspecies scattering lengths, (Formula presented) and (Formula presented). This equality means that density-dependent effects on (Formula presented) are independent of the spin tipping angle. It also means that the tendency of a (Formula presented) spinor condensate to form spin domains spontaneously is driven not by the inherent immiscibility of the spins, but by the energy minimization associated with moving one spin species to regions of the cloud with high density and the other to regions of low density [see E.A. Cornell et al, J. Low Temp. Phys. 113, 151 (1998)].
