It should be noted, however, that such a localized mode in the disordered network will be characterized not by a single wave vector but by a sum over different wave vectors, breaking the usual "momentum" selection rule. Thus, the exact wavelength cannot be defined in a strict sense; we here only refer to the "wavelength" as the nominal wavelength which might be determined by the periodic boundary condition of the respective silica rings.
