By contrast, the local moment approach (LMA) of Refs. 33-38 is based on an uncontrolled approximation: the superposition of broken symmetry states and an ad hoc effective interaction determined by local constraints. The LMA provides a reasonable, although not in every respect correct interpolation between the high and low temperature regimes in the single channel case. It is inapplicable to the multichannel case.
