    • The atomic scheme of fullerene coalescence induced purely by a heat treatment could be different from the scheme described here, which is indeed associated by electron irradiation. In-situ TEM observation of "pure" heat treatment effect is essentially difficult because we cannot get rid of electron probe. A more moderate accelerating voltage may be chosen to minimize the irradiation effect at the cost of a degraded spatial resolution.
