    • note
    • Increasing the π-acceptor ability of the pyrazine, would be expected to result in an anodic shift in its reduction potential on coordination of the second metal. Surprisingly, this is not observed here, although the oxidation potentials of the metals indicate increasing π-accepting ability. One possible explanation for this behavior is that despite its greater π-acceptor ability, increased π-delocalization of electron density over Ru-O-CCC-N metallocycles occurs in the dinuclear complex which stabilizes both metal and bridge states.
