The s-d exchange for conduction band electrons in the II-VI MS alloys is ferromagnetic because it arises purely from Pauli exclusion contributions ("potential" exchange) and does not involve antiferromagnetic interactions that would result from "kinetic" hopping between hybridized levels.

We note that a far more stringent test of the particle-hole diffusion channel picture will result from studies in the parallel field geometry (e.g. Fig. 6) where other contributions (weak localization and the Cooperon channel) are eliminated. Such an analysis is under way and will be presented elsewhere.
