    • The best results are obtained when the mixture is first heated at 200 °C for 30 min followed by removal under vacuum of the ethanol liberated and heating again at 200 °C for another 30 min. In doing so, one avoids the cleavage of the amide to the starting materials which takes place over prolonged heating at high temperature in the presence of ethanol.
