Recently, Kobayashi et al. discovered that Cd(II) terpyridine complex can accelerate the allylation reactions between carbonyl compounds and allyltrimethoxysilane in aqueous media (Aoyama, N.; Hamada, T.; Manabe, K.; Kobayashi, S. Chem. Commun. 2003, 676). The mechanism of this reaction has not been clarified yet.
