Science 2002, 298:1033-1036. This work describes how constitutive NF-κB activation in Theileria-transformed cells is mediated by the recruitment of the multisubunit IκB kinase, IKK, into large activated foci on the surface of the parasite. IKK signalosome assembly is specific for the transforming schizont stage and is downregulated upon differentiation into the non-transforming merozoite stage.

A link between the PtdIns-3K-Akt/PKB pathway and constitutive NF-κB activity could be excluded.

Blood 2003, 101:1874-1881. This work shows that the uncontrolled proliferation of Theileria-transformed B cells is associated with constitutive activation of the Src family protein kinase Hck, apparently caused by exclusion of its negative regulator, Csk from Hck-positive glycolipid-enriched microdomains.
