    • 2O. After heating to 433 K in the drying oven again, the powder was heated to 1173 K under vacuum using a fused quartz tube equipped with fritted disks. The resultant carbon-silica composite was washed by stirring in 2.5 wt % NaOH solution dissolved in 1:1 water-ethanol mixture by volume, twice at 373 K. The carbon product was filtered and dried.
