29. The aminosulfones were readily prepared by conversion of the hydroxysulfone into the corresponding mesylate followed by reaction with excess benzylamine at 75°C. The benzyl protecting group could be removed by reaction with Pd-black in 4.4% formic acid in methanol.
30. 3S: C, 65.63; H, 5.81; N, 4.25. Found: C, 65.40; H, 5.99; N, 4.50%.
31. Spectroscopic and elemental analysis of all compounds are in agreement with the assigned structures.
