    • rad is assumed to be 15 ns (ref 29). The refractive index was assumed to be 2.0, and the κ and R were estimated by the Protein data bank file (1JB0). We have also confirmed that a computer simulation based on the above formula, parameters and crystal structure (our unpublished results) approximately reproduces the fastest decay (about 0.16 ps) of the polarization anisotropy of the fluorescence from photosystem I as observed in ref 10. Although all of the formula and parameters may not be very valid, we claim only that the time scales we have tentatively estimated as in Table 2 are reasonable.
