Similar lack of reactivity of cis-(R)-(+)-limonene oxide with nucleophilic reagents has been reported for dimethylsulfonium methylide: Alcaraz, L.; Cridland, A.; Kinchin, E. Org. Lett. 2001, 3, 4051. Structure 3 in this reference is cis-(R)-(+)-limonene oxide as defined by CAS nomenclature.

The reaction of pure cis-(R)-limonene oxide with pyrrolidine in the presence of water affords a mixture of two diastereomeric amino alcohols, the major product being (1S,2S,5R)-2-methyl-5-(1-methylethenyl)-2-(1-pyrrolidinyl)cyclohexanol.

Two diastereomeric diols and two diastereomeric amino alcohols are formed. The major diol product arises from reaction of the cis-limonene oxide, and the major amino alcohol product arises from reaction of the trans-limonene oxide.
