In a superconductor, the spin and charge collective modes appear as sharp excitations (because there is no Fermi surface to damp them), and so it is appropriate to refer to the collective modes as quanta of "excitons." In the present paper, we are always dealing with a situation where the spin and charge collective modes are overdamped, and this terminology did not seem appropriate. Otherwise, there is no change in the physical content of the fractionalization.
