    • All data in this study were collected on a Digital Instruments (DI) Nanoscope III multimode force microscope. Standard DI short, wide cantilevers were used. Cantilever spring constants were measured using the method of Cleveland et al.: Cleveland, J.P.; Manne, S.; Bocek, D.; Hansma, P.K. Rev. Sci. Instrum. 1993, 64, 403-405. Data involving the ODS-mica substrate were collected and analyzed using a PC equipped with a National Instruments (NI) acquisition card (PCI-MIO-16E) and virtual instruments created using LabView 5.0 software (NI). This technique enabled facile collection and analysis of large force curve datasets.
