    • 2, is only sparingly soluble in common organic solvents such as chloroform and benzene but phthalocyanines with thioalkyl substituents are highly soluble in most nonaqueous media and tend to exhibit shifts of the absorption bands to longer wavelengths in the near-IR region of the spectrum as compared to the unsubstituted or alkoxyl-substituted complexes.
