Ellipsometry measurements were carried on the DNA film using a Gaertner L119 null ellipsometer in the polarizer-compensator-sample-analyzer mode at an angle of incidence of 70° using a He-Ne laser as the source (632.8 nm). The film thickness was calculated using a program written by one of us (M.S.) in Mathcad by assuming the refractive index of the DNA film to 1.6.
