    • The mass ratio for a vesicle layer with respect to a bilayer was calculated to be 2.2, based on the ratio (τ) of the surface area of a sphere and the area projected by a sphere onto an underlying plane (τ = 4) and on the fact that for a randomly packed layer of spheres such projections would be expected to occupy 55% of the total area of the plane.
