It is not yet clear whether this implies that complete neutralization has occurred prior to reaching the turning point, or whether in LAS, where there is significant interpenetration of the respective electron clouds of the two collision partners, the overall scattering is not particularly sensitive to the charge state of the partially stripped MCI.
