    • 2 = 1, it can then be shown that the central branch has basis function weightings of α = 0, β = γ = 1/√2. The upper and lower branches have weightings of α = 1/√2, β = γ = 1/2. Thus, on resonance, the cavity photon is equally distributed between the upper and lower branches and has no component in the middle branch (rendering it dark).
