    • note
    • Bilateral differences of left minus right (L-R) for each trait were tested for fluctuating asymmetry (FA), defined as mean zero with normal distribution; directional asymmetry (DA), defined as mean not zero with normal distribution; and antisymmetry (AS), defined as mean zero with a distribution that was not normal. Each signed (+ or -) bilateral asymmetry (L - R) was tested for normality with mean zero by the Shapiro-Wilk statistic W and one-sample t-test. Relative asymmetries (L-R/[(L + R)/2]) × 100 and feed efficiencies were transformed to arc sine square roots prior to statistical analysis. Organ weights were analyzed relative to body weight ([organ weight/body weight] × 100) with the latter transformed to arc sin square roots prior to statistical analysis. Body weights were transformed to common logarithms prior to statistical analysis. All traits were analyzed by ANOVA except mortality, which was analyzed by Chi-square.
