19. 207Pb isotope ratio; these values are determined from more than 50 analyses of four reference samples made of sediments from four lakes, which have been digested and analysed on 16 occasions over a 5 year period. This total analytical error reflects all aspects of sample heterogeneity, sample handling and preparation, acid digestion, as well as ICP-MS analysis. All concentrations are reported on a dry weight basis.

The Heavy Metals Eularian Transport model was developed to assess present-day, long-range transboundary pollution in Europe within the Cooperative Programme for Monitoring and Evaluation of the Long-Range Transmission of Air Pollutants in Eurupe (EMEP). The model is based on the 11-year period 1984-1995, hence the application of an 11-year run-time for the model in this application. It is assumed that this period is long enough to represent the average conditions for atmospheric transport and deposition of lead during the Medieval Period.
