Small HDL particles containing two apoA-I molecules are precursors in vivo to medium and large HDL particles containing three and four apoA-I molecules in nonhuman primates
-
4 Colvin PL, Moriguchi E, Barrett PH, Parks JS, Rudel LL. Small HDL particles containing two apoA-I molecules are precursors in vivo to medium and large HDL particles containing three and four apoA-I molecules in nonhuman primates. J Lipid Res 1999; 40:1782-1792. This paper shows that apoA-I once incorporated into an HDL particle does not exchange with other particles. It also supports the kinetic evidence in humans (see Ref. 21) for the removal from the circulation of some newly synthesized HDL particles and their subsequent re-entry after peripheral sequestration.
