    • Each series had a corresponding control reaction performed. In the control reactions of EDA with 2,4-dimethoxybenzaldehyde and EDA with styrene, both in presence of silica, only starting materials were isolated after normal workup. In a control reaction between PDM and N-benzylideneaniline in presence of silica, only imine, azine, and stilbenes were isolated.
