It is a concrete example of the limits of paediatric prolonged HPN in terms of costs and quality of life.

Although not specifically paediatric, this study provides detailed information on the real costs of HPN and shows that the costs of hospitalizations due to complications might exceed those of the daily provision of nutrition. A similar study should be conducted in children.
