    • By using microcontact printing, patterned surfaces with areas of different functionalities (iniferter and dodecanethiol) were made. After 2 h of photopolymerization, the patterns disappeared, and an undulating landscape was observed. Therefore, these investigations led us to believe that under the influence of UV light the thiol-gold bonds become unstable, thereby interchanging their positions. The alkanethiols can be regarded as moving freely sideways (drifting) in the plane of the surface under the influence of UV light.
