    • 39Ar dating of glass spherules
    • This study suggests that the evolutionary Big Bang was triggered by cosmic debris. Analysis of impacts from cosmic debris shows an increase roughly coincident with the 'Cambrian explosion' of complex life on earth. The authors suggest that the increased debris influx may have simulated the rate of biotic diversity.

    • Mutually exclusive expression of human red and green visual pigment-reporter transgenes occurs at high frequency in murine cone photoreceptors
    • A necessary condition for color vision is that individual photoreceptors respond to a restricted range of wavelengths. This is achieved in visual systems by having each photoreceptor type express a single type of opsin. This paper examines the molecular mechanism through which mutually exclusive expression of red and green opsin pigments can be achieved. This elegant paper describes how this may occur by identifying the necessary relationship between the locus control region and the pigment gene promoters.
