7. The divinyl ketone radical can assume conformations where one or both of the vinyl groups are syn to the C=O group. These conformations are lower in energy than the one considered. As they are not analogous to conformations attainable by the banzophenone radical, they would be inappropriate as a starting points for comparison with the benzophenone reaction path.
