Eliza Kitis holds an MA in Theoretical Linguistics from the University of Essex, and a Ph.D. in Philosophy of Language, University of Warwick. She teaches linguistics, semantics, pragmatics and discourse analysis at the Department of Linguistics, School of English, Aristotle University. She was also involved in the graduate programme at Kent State University, Ohio, 1992, where she taught text analysis and pragmatics. Her research interests and publications are in the areas of her teaching with an emphasis on discourse analysis, pragmatics, the discourse of advertising (Word and Image, 1997, 13), language and ideology (Journal of Pragmatics, 28) and stylistics (two papers forthcoming in Language and Style). Her current research focus is in the area of connectives, a topic of her thesis, too
