    • 2/ CO (1/1, 20 bar). After stirring the mixture for 48 h at this temperature the autoclave was cooled rapidly to 20°C and depressurized. The reaction solution was filtered through a small pad of silica with tertbutyl methyl ether (50 mL). After evaporation of the solvent the crude product was analyzed by NMR spectroscopy to determine the diastereomer ratio (96:4). Subsequent column chromatography on silica (solvent: petrolether/tert-butyl methyl ether, 9/1) provided the unsaturated ester (±)-3 (391 mg, 0.75 mmol) as a highly viscous oil.
