    • During the preparation of our manuscript a paper appeared on the deprotection of trityl and dimethoxytrityl ethers using iodine-alcohol reagents. For reference see: Wahlstrom, J. L and Ronald, R. C. J. Org. Chem. 1998, 63, 6021. Since we also observed the deprotection of dimethoxytrityl ether independently of Ronald's group, we decided to incorporate our results on dimethoxytrityl cleavage in this manuscript.
