18. During the preparation of our manuscript a paper appeared on the deprotection of trityl and dimethoxytrityl ethers using iodine-alcohol reagents. For reference see: Wahlstrom, J. L and Ronald, R. Since we also observed the deprotection of dimethoxytrityl ether independently of Ronald's group, we decided to incorporate our results on dimethoxytrityl cleavage in this manuscript.
