The gene FGF4 is already established as an important marker of malignant potential in non-germ cell cancer. This marker, which is switched off when embryonal cells are induced to differentiate, could be even more help in identification of malignant potential of cell lineages in GCCs.

This article identifies the importance of conventional factors, such as LDH and hCG extranodal sites and mediastinal primary tumors. This article is the first to show that seminoma histology is an independently significant risk factor for a good response to chemotherapy.
