This article reports on an excellent study showing the effect of social comparison information on QoL. Results also indicated that high negative affectivity cancer patients might use such information in a self-defeating way.

This is an excellent, insightful analysis of the association between depression and cancer risk. It is vital reading for anyone interested in research on psychosocial risk factors in health and disease.

Few if any longitudinal studies have explored the combination of broad personality traits as a risk factor for cancer. Health Psychol 1998; 17:371-375. This study showed that for women with low perceptions of control, breast cancer worry varied as a function of the number of breast symptoms reported.
