    • The backbone modes observed so clearly in the present spectra were not analyzed in previous studies, presumably due to complications from the changes in the Si substrate phonon structures. Here, however, we were able to systematically eliminate substrate contributions quantitatively and be able to resolve the Si-O modes by simply realigning the filmed substrates in the optical path of the spectrometer in the identical position for each reference and sample spectra collection.
