-
+ ATPase is a major autoantigen in chronic H. pylori gastritis with body mucosa atrophy. Gastroenterology 1998;115:340-342. Characterization of the anticanalicular autoantibodies by means of Western blotting and immunoblotting reveals that approximately 50% of autoantibodies react with the peptide part of the a and b subunit of the gastric proton pump. This autoreactivity shows a strong correlation with body mucosa atrophy. The nature of the corresponding antigen of the other 50% remains unclear.
