The decrease of the lamellar spacing is exclusively attributable to convex bending of the liquid-like lamellar surface. Two driving forces must be considered: surface tension (up to a critical ratio of lamella thickness to section thickness, the free lamella surface decreases upon bending) and entropy [partial relaxation of entropically unfavorable chain conformation (stretched chains in lamellae in bulk)].
