While in this work the authors view the system more in terms of 'traditional' polymerisation and polymer gelation, still the detailed discussion given has much relevance to subsequent work in colloidal aggregation. In particular the small-angle peak in the scattering is identified as due to correlations between different polymers; when the system is diluted (which is possible without changing the structure of individual polymers because the monomers are chemically bonded) the correlations are lost; the small-angle peak disappears.
