This evaluation of HIV-infected and -uninfected haemophiliacs demonstrates the tremendous effect of age. The age gradient was found to be steeper for the time from seroconversion to death compared with time to contract AIDS. The study also revealed a higher mortality among HIV-infected patients who did not have AIDS according to the formal definition.
