4 and then concentrated in vacuo. The crude product was chromatographed on silica gel to give (S)-2-cyclohexenyl benzoate. The ee was determined by HPLC using a chiral column. Pure 2-cyclohexen-1-ol was obtained by the hydrolysis of the benzoate ester with sodium hydroxide in methanol.
