This paper describes polarized microtubule rearrangements in planar polarization of Drosophila wing hairs, and specific roles for Rac1 and CDC42 in reorganizing the actin cytoskeleton during the process of wing hair formation, Rac1 is required to restrict hair formation to a single site, and CDC42 is necessary tor actin polymerization in wing hairs.

The subcellular localizations of myosins 1β, VI, and VIIa in inner ear epithelia are determined by immunofluorescence and electron microscopy. Myosin VI is found in cuticular plates and stereocilia rootlets, where it may anchor stereocilia. Myosin VIIa localizes to cross-links between cilia and to regions within and surrounding the cuticular plate, and may maintain spatial relationships between stereocilia in hair bundles.
