38. Contamination will occur, however, if THF-derived oxidation products are present in the solvent. The THF we employed in these reactions was peroxide-free when tested with damp starch-iodine paper. The presence of an oxidation inhibitor (BHT) in the THF does not affect the reaction appreciably.
