    • CD40 ligand-dependent T cell activation: Requirement of B7-CD28 signaling through CD40
    • of special interest. This report examines the interaction of the CD40L - CD40 and B7 - CD28 pathways in the cellular and humoral immune responses to hepatocytes transduced by adenoviral vectors in a murine model. The data indicate that the CD40L dependent activation of T cells occurs through signaling of CD40 on the APC which enhances the B7 co-stimulatory pathway

    • Costimulatory function and expression of CD40 ligand, CD80, and CD86 in vascularized murine cardiac allograft rejection
    • of special interest. These authors demonstrate that the combination of anti-CD40L mAb with an infusion of donor antigens in the form of splenocytes induces long-term survival of mouse cardiac allografts. Analysis of this model indicates that the CD40 pathway can directly co-stimulate T cells, independently of its effect on the B7 - CD28 pathway
