N Engl J Med 1995, 333:823-831. This study used an adenoviral vector system that showed no correction of functional defect in CF nasal epithelium despite molecular evidence of gene transfer. Lack of functional correction was perhaps explained by low percentage of epithelial cells transfected by vector.

Upregulation of class I MHC antigens by interferon-g is necessary for the T cell-mediated elimination of recombinant adenovirus infected hepatocytes in vivo
-
Yang Y, Xiang Z, Ertl HCJ, Wilson JM: Upregulation of class I MHC antigens by interferon-g is necessary for the T cell-mediated elimination of recombinant adenovirus infected hepatocytes in vivo. Proc Natl Acad Sci U S A 1995, 92:7257-7261. This study details some of the ways in which the immune system can mediate clearance of adenoviral-infected cells.
