    • Mechanisms of acquired thymic tolerance in experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis: Thymic dendritic-enriched cells induce specific peripheral T cell unresponsiveness in vivo
    • in vitro with an encephalitogenic peptide and injected intravenously were capalbe of preventing the development of EAE but this protection was lost in thymectomized recipients. Furthermore, the intravenous injection of thymic dendritic cells, isolated from animals previously injected intrathymically with the peptide, also prevented the development of EAE. These findings suggest that an interaction of thymic dendritic cells with a specific TCR of activated peripheral T cells can lead to the inactivation of the antigen-specific cells
